Good news bad news.
There is a huge amount of squid in the area right now. For the game fish this is very good news. They are all very lethargic because they have gorged themselves until they can't eat any more. The news is mixed for anglers. Good, the area is teaming with life. Bad, the sea life just ain't hungry right now.
Day before yesterday yellowfin showed and have been seen feeding with schools of porpoise. But it is the same deal as the rest of the game. Just flippin us the fin.
This morning brought another incredible East Cape sunrise
Here was a huge surprise. Still on anchor we were able to make some outstanding bait. These are the first greenbacks I have seen this year.
We pitched the mackerel at tailer after tailer
After tailer
and saw a lot of this
Not a lot of this
Good friend and local Buena Vista resident Andrew Hughes fished with us today
Woops! Looks like the wahoo are still in the neighborhood
Here was the most fun part of my day. Jen Wren deck hand, Diego, show up this morning with his 8 year old son Ervis. It brought back memories of when my dad started taking me fishing at 8 years old.
