Finishing up 2010

We finished off 2010 with a 3 week charter for Wild Horizons Limited. They are producing a new High Definition film on North America for the Discovery Channel with a similar format to Planet Earth.

It was very odd to be on Jen Wren III for 3 weeks and not fish. Our mission was to find bait balls being stocked by marlin and other predators. Emmy award winning photographer David Reichart and producer Joe Stevens were aboard to capture under water on film what we found.

We lived on the boat and worked from San Jose del Cabo to Mag Bay. It was exciting and challenging. Finding the bait and marlin was not much of a problem. Keeping up with it long enough for the film crew to get in the water with cumbersome High Definition cameras was.

Most every night Dave and Joe would review the days filming. I did see some pretty cool stuff. There is one segment where I counted 9 marlin in the frame at one time. One passed by the camera so close it's eye ball could be seen rotating around to keep the camera in view.

I have been asked by many, when will we get to see the film? This is a several year project for Wild Horizons and they are not sure but say it will be a couple of more years before completion.

In our charter contract it was agreed that the rights to all photos belong to the Discovery Channel. With that I have no photos to post of this event. Instead I am posting several random images of some of the fun we had with a few of our friends on the Jen Wren boats in 2010.
