it's all good

The crew has been nonstop this week with traveling, last minute changes, events, appearances and deadlines. While the AF crew was running around the northeast sector of Florida, good things were going on in the southwest corner.

Doing some good in the neighborhood! The SWFL Gheenoe Club’s fundraiser brought in $450 for Project Snook last weekend with its benefit tournament. They had 22 boats carrying nearly 50 anglers out in less than favorable weather. There were some great fish caught! Among the fish turned in, there were 15 slams recorded and a real Mogan – a 31-inch redfish. It was a tight race with only 2 inches separating 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Jay Warren climbed out on top with a 69” slam taking home a cool $275. A special thanks goes to James Lefko for organizing the event. James says he plans to hold a fundraiser tournament to benefit Project Snook at least once a year. AF hopes to coordinate schedules so we can make it to the next one.

The goodness flows over! The Mote Teach-A-Kid Fishing Clinic shuttled 75 fifth graders from Alta Vista Elementary into the Mote Aquaculture Park. The kids learned about fish biology, casting, bait and tackle, ethical angling and, of course, fishing. Each student received a rod and reel, tackle box, a goodie bag full of educational material and a backpack of gift items from Dick’s Sporting Goods. The young anglers took to the ponds with their new fishing rods and caught/released 77 fish. Now they’re hooked!

Meanwhile, in Sarasota, 23 kids from the Sheriff's Youth Ranch were treated to a day on the water. Each rancher received a rod and reel and a box of goodies. Addictive Fishing sent a care package full of goodies down for the event. From what we’re told, the kids caught some great fish including a 27" redfish, 27" snook, 26" trout and a 40" bonnethead shark! That's good stuff!

The mini Mogan Man is grownin' up! Drayden Wiggins dons the cap and gown as he walks the stage to accept his diploma from Space Coast High this week. Congratulations Drayden and the rest of the Class of 2011!

This week's photo was a hard choice to make but Johnny Johnson had it goin' on! Johnny fished in the Project Snook Benefit Tournament last weekend and landed a beautiful 25 inch snook. This 12 year old may not have won the tournament but Johnny's a winner in our heart. For doing your part to help raise money for Project Snook, Johnny Johnson, you're our Mogan of the Week!

Finding it hard not to kid around with all these kids around,
