for the record

There is a lot going on in a short amount of time. The show schedule has been posted, airline schedules have been marked and what little free time we have this week needs to be used watching previously recorded materials. Next week is going to be one for the record books!

It's time to clear out your DVRs again! The final countdown is underway and there are only 7 days left to watch and erase all of those reality shows that have been stacking up in queue. Now that you know what we will be doing, you can do the same. New episodes of Addictive Fishing start next Friday! Dial it in on SunSports Friday @ 10:30am, Sunday @ 9:30pm, Tuesday @ 6:30am and sometimes on Thursday @ 9:30pm. This is no April Fools joke; the new season is here… almost!

The decks have been set on autopilot as the AF Crew heads west next week for something out of the ordinary. Capt. Blair's thermal flipflops have been packed and a special "Flats Blue" rod has been produced just for this next shoot. For the first time in AF history, the Mogan Man pulls away from the saltwater scene to join Capt. Bernie Keefe on the frozen lakes of Colorado. Bernie is no stranger to the antics of our producers. For several years, the McCabes have been visiting our sponsors (Wright & McGill - LazerSharp) in the mile high city, Denver, as part of a working vacation and have fished with Bernie in the past. An early morning text (at 4am Colorado time) to Bernie was followed by a surprise return phone call (he was awake) and before he knew it, Blair was locked into a trip to where few native Floridians have gone before. That brings up another question… Has anyone told him yet? We wish them the best with their ice fishing adventures from our warm roost here in the Sunshine State.

Other new 2011 season news – More Project Snook updates. The crew just finished shooting footage for another segment at Mote's Agriculture Park. The little snooklets that we have been featuring since they were only 11 days old are now 10 months old and much bigger than we last saw them. Remember, just because we are seeing snook being caught again does not mean they have made a rebound. Much research is to be done for better understanding of reproduction and lifespan. With declining habitat and more fishing pressure, they still need our help and your donations go directly to the group doing the research. Your donations from last year were matched with a $25,000 grant which purchased equipment that is a great asset to the research efforts. We need to keep the ball rolling and help give back to the fishery that we all enjoy. Invest in the future of our fisheries. Donate to Project Snook today!

Joshua Aultman has been blowing up the Facebook fan page with some serious Mogans! From 28-inch snook to 8lb flounder, Joshua has earned his seat in the spotlight as our Mogan of the Week. Keep the pictures coming, brotha! Pretty soon it will be easier than ever to post your pictures on the new AF website. Get out there and start snapping shots of your best catches because we are almost ready to unleash the new multimedia playground.

Spinning round and round,
BillBird
